Just Kampers; Slammed Van, Thank you Jam!

VW parts supremos Just Kampers have taken a leftfield trip into the record books this week after partnering with Turner Prize nominated artist Andy Saunders to create the World’s Lowest VW Camper.

The 39.5” (1 metre) tall squashed VW camper, entitled "Vancake" is fully road legal and was created by Saunders and his team in just three days during the Bug Jam festival at the UK’s Santa Pod Raceway. Starting with a totally standard camper on the first day of the show, the assembled metal magicians proceeded to transform it in front of the 31,000 strong live audience as a piece of pure automotive theatre, in just 3 days.

They even had time to apply a custom paint job and electric sunroof in time for the record-breaker to fly up Santa Pod’s famous drag strip as the fitting finale to the show. Thanks to the van’s massively reduced weight it even managed to out-drag the camera car of the TV crew sent to film it for a forthcoming documentary!

Just Kampers M.D, Mark Reynolds looked delighted to be part of the Record-breaking team. "We thought we’d have a bit of a laugh at this years Bug Jam." he explained. "A lot of our customers don’t realise that many of our management team, including myself, are died-in-the-wool hot-rodders and car customisers. In fact, one of our directors, Pete Demspey arrived on the Friday to take a look, picked up a grinder and didn’t leave the build until the Sunday night! We thought this would be a great way to entertain the public over the show weekend as a fun way to get our brand out there. Watch out next year.. We might do something even crazier!"
