‘Excellent’ eco home in Yorkshire

3rd March 2009 Print
‘Excellent’ eco home in Yorkshire Award-winning housebuilder, Miller Homes Yorkshire has achieved yet another ‘excellent’ rating for its pioneering development in Allerton Bywater. The development has been assessed by EcoHomes, an independent, environmental labeling scheme for housing.

EcoHomes assesses the environmental quality of a development by considering the broad concerns of climate change, use of resources, pollution, and impacts on bio-diversity. These concerns are balanced against the need for a high quality internal environment.

There are seven categories in which Miller’s post completion homes have been assessed these comprise; Energy, Transport, Pollution, Materials, Water, Ecology and Land Use and Health and Well-Being.

This latest accolade for the eco-conscious housebuilder follows hot on the heels of the What House gold award for “Best Sustainable Development” and the Next Generation report which put Miller in the top three housebuilders who are actively seeking to address climate change.

Jon Tate, project co-ordinator for Miller Homes Yorkshire said: “This is a great commendation for Miller’s Millennium Village development. Because this is an eco-development there are obviously alternative standards to achieve although to gain the highest result of ‘excellent’ means that we are constantly going beyond what is expected, to deliver more environmentally sustainable homes.”

Carolyn Rushbrook, sales director for Miller Homes Yorkshire said: “We are building homes for people to enjoy for many, many years to come and protecting the future of our planet is part of that long term promise to our customers.

“Our customers can benefit from the advantages these homes offer which include reduced energy usage as well as reduced energy bills, this coupled with the reduced prices mean that Millennium Village is an extremely more attractive and affordable option for those wanting to move home.”

The development is surrounded by green open countryside whilst also being conveniently situated within the M62, M1 and A1 (M) triangle close to the main towns/city of Leeds, Castleford and Wakefield.

Homes available at Miller’s Millennium Village range from three bedroom semi-detached to four bedroom detached properties. Prices range from £171,950 to £215,950, the sales centre and showhome are open from Thursday to Monday, 10.30am to 5.30pm.
