Volvo Trucks supports the industry with Fuelwatch
Volvo Trucks latest Fuelwatch initiative could save hard-pressed operators as much as 10% on their fuel bills. Fuelwatch is an integral part of Volvo’s Fuel Management Service - a consultancy service which includes a detailed fuel management audit, followed by action planning and target setting.Fuelwatch itself comprises six key components, which, if followed, are capable of delivering a reduction in fuel usage and a corresponding, positive improvement in the transport company’s bottom line.
The six steps include advice on optimising truck specifications, maintenance contracts and fuel saving accessories as well as driver development and effective use of Dynafleet Online to gain control of fuel consumption and emissions. Professional driver development is also a key part of Fuelwatch as it has been proved to lead to more fuel-efficient driving, lower maintenance costs and a better working environment for drivers.
“The Fuelwatch initiative is one of the main programmes with which we are supporting the transport industry in the UK and Ireland,” says Volvo Trucks Managing Director Göran Nyberg,” Volvo Trucks is very aware of the increasingly tough business environment for operators. We realise that it’s not enough to just deliver productive, fuel efficient trucks to our customers. That’s why we are working hard to share our expertise and knowledge with them in their search for reduced fuel costs and environmental impact.”
“A reduction in fuel consumption of even two or three litres per one hundred kilometres can have a positive effect on operating costs. In addition, there is an important environmental benefit to reducing fuel usage as every litre of diesel saved is equivalent to a saving of 2.6 kg of carbon dioxide emissions from the exhaust.” He added.
