First Euro 5 into Blakemore Fresh Foods
Blakemore Fresh Foods Limited, a division part of A. F. Blakemore & Son Limited, based in Willenhall, West Midlands has taken delivery of their first new generation Euro 5 Volvo FL 240 4x2 rigid truck.Supplied through Volvo dealer Hartshorne Motor Services Ltd. of Walsall on a full 5-year, 60,000 mile repair and maintenance package, the FL is used to carry both chilled and frozen meat. Equipped with air suspension for easy loading and unloading, the truck delivers to secondary wholesale companies, small butchers, caterers and Cash and Carry’s. Covering most of England from the North East down to Cornwall, the 15 tonne GVW chassis is equipped with a chiller and a Gray and Adams body.
Bob Cash, Operations Director for the Fresh Foods division said. “We operate a number of Volvo’s and they continue to perform well. They are a reliable truck and we run them for five years. The Euro 5 engine is performing well and we have a strong relationship with Hartshorne’s who have a workshop facility very close-by. The driver we have on the Volvo FL is very happy with it. He reports that it is very comfortable, easy to drive and he likes the driving position.”
Bob added. “Hartshorne’s give us excellent service. A long term relationship has developed between Blakemore and Hartshorne which has been very successful and continues to be so.”
The 15-tonner is equipped with cruise control, air-con and a satellite tracker. Additionally, an R:COM fleet management system provides real-time information on vehicle performance, driver performance and temperature management for the chiller unit.
