Skoda Superb named ‘Car of the Year 2009’ in the Czech Republic

Skoda The Skoda Superb has been named ‘Car of the Year 2009’ in the Czech Republic. It won first place in the ‘middle and upper-middle class’ category, beating 42 competitors.

The victory of the Skoda Superb was decided by the general public and a 23 member jury, resulting in a total of 70,047 people involved in deciding who should receive the accolade.

Dr. E. Scholz, Head of Skoda Auto Technical Development, stated: "It is a good sign for us, especially in these difficult times. Winning ‘Car of the Year 2009’ in the Czech Republic shows that we have gained confidence of both Czech journalists and customers. What is crucial for us is that we offer a product of excellent quality. The Skoda Superb is the result of great teamwork at Skoda."

The automotive industry in the Czech Republic has total annual sales of CZK 650 billion and it constitutes 20% of industrial production and 20% of export in the Czech Republic.
