The Regent launches the ‘retox burger’
Tucked away just behind the main drag of Kensal Green, The Regent has quickly established itself as a firm neighbourhood favourite since its launch in March 2007.The laid back pub is a big hit with the discerning young crowd who have helped transform this once quiet part of North West London into a vibrant local neighbourhood where delis, boutiques and restaurants seem to open on a weekly basis.
Situated in an impressive turn of the century building, The Regent has a winning combination with its comfortable yet eclectic interior, relaxed atmosphere, friendly and genuine service and its great food: a selection of homemade organic burgers, Sunday roasts and a few much loved pub classics.
To celebrate the end of January, waving goodbye to the dreaded detox that helps to make it one of the most depressing months of the year, The team at the Regent have added a heart stopping new range of ultimate organic burgers to their list of classics, helping to kick start February.
Retox Burger Range
The Deli Burger – mustard, dill pickles, gruyere cheese and BBQ coleslaw
The Bad Boy – stilton, bacon, spinach with a red onion salsa
The Farmhouse – gherkins, honey roast ham and a fried egg
The Double stacker – two 8oz burgers, mozzarella, cheddar and streaky bacon
The Regent is the first venture from brothers Jonathan and Andrew Perritt. The brothers have turned what was once an unloved old boozer into an open plan ground floor pub with a home-from-home feel.
Generously sized antique tables and mismatched armchairs and sofas are scattered around the open fires. Old-fashioned goldfish bowls hold candles while candelabras and a couple of exceptional chandeliers provide a soft glow and offset the original Edwardian features. Palm trees are a surprising and welcome addition both inside and out – for the summer months there is a large sheltered terrace making alfresco a must.
A giant bowl of freshly made popcorn sits at the bar, perfect to nibble on while ordering a round of drinks from a comprehensive range of draft and bottled beers, ales, some classic cocktails and a good selection of well priced wines on offer both by the glass and bottle. Beers on tap include San Miguel, Becks, Kronenbourg 1664, Wadsworth 6X and Adnams to name a few.
The food menu at The Regent, created by Andrew is simple but comforting, fitting in well with the overall feel of the pub. The most part of Andrew’s menu features a mouth-watering list of homemade organic burgers. These range from the Classic to The Market Burger – topped with a Portobello mushroom and melted mozzarella, The White Burger –with homemade garlic mayo and the decadently moreish Cobb Burger – avocado, red onion, gorgonzola and watercress. All can be ordered with chips, French fries, coleslaw and green salad.
Alternatively there is a seasonally changing list of specials and signature dishes, which include, Homemade Winter Bean Soup, Smoked Haddock Florentine, Homemade Steak and Adnams Pie, Roast Vegetable Salad and Macaroni cheese. Sunday lunch at The Regent is a must and large organic fore ribs of beef are served up with all of the different trimmings.
Perfect for after work drinks, weeknight suppers with friends, a long lazy Saturday brunch with a jug of bloody Mary and the weekend papers or for an indulgent Sunday lunch – it is no surprise that The Regent has very quickly become one of Kensal Greens best loved pubs.
The Regent is located at 5 Regent Street, Kensal Green, London NW10 5LG.
