Abercrombie & Fitch To Open Savile Row Flagship

21st March 2007 Print
Abercrombie On March 22 at 10:00 a.m. Abercrombie & Fitch will open a flagship at 7 Burlington Gardens. This will be the Company's first European store. Dealing closely with English Heritage, the store has been developed as a sensitive restoration and conversion of a Grade II* listed building, originally built as a home in 1725.

The structure has been added to and altered over its nearly 300-year history, yet architectural features from every stage remain, including the building's original staircase and the vaults from its incarnation as a branch of the Bank of England. The 18-month restoration project includes a series of carefully scaled design elements that unite the Abercrombie & Fitch brand environment with these historical attributes.

Mike Jeffries, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Abercrombie & Fitch said, "We are thrilled by the opening of the London store, which will truly become a worldwide flagship. Its location in one of the most historic districts in the retail world will provide an extraordinary showcase for the Abercrombie & Fitch brand."

In 1892, Abercrombie & Fitch began as a small store and factory in New York City. David Abercrombie & Ezra Fitch were dedicated to selling only the highest quality camping, fishing and hunting gear. Distinguished clientele included Theodore Roosevelt, Admiral Robert Peary, Ernest Hemingway, the Duke of Windsor, Sir Ernest Shackleton, Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy.

Abercrombie & Fitch seeks to outfit a new generation of spirited clientele in the United Kingdom.
