Free learning service at Falstaff Experience Tudor World

The Falstaff Experience Tudor World located in the heart of Stratford upon Avon is offering a unique free service.

The museum shows the sights, sounds and smells of Tudor life and offers visitors an insight into Shakespeare's Stratford. A committed member to the Kids In Museums Manifesto, the Falstaff Experience is keen for young people to view museums as a learning resource and an aid and stimulus to personal study rather than just somewhere to be visited on a field trip.

The museum has an extensive cast of characters who help deliver entertainment and educational packages. A full list can be found at falstaffexperience.co.uk. To encourage students in their personal study the museum has made it possible for people to email the characters with questions. The person will be then receive an emailed response. The question and answer will then be published on the website. The service is free of charge and people can expect a response within two weeks. There are historical characters like Henry VIII and Elizabeth I as well some of Shakespeare's fictional characters such as Hamlet and Beatrice from 'Much Ado About Nothing' . The museum that shows Tudor life also has some lower class characters that can be contacted to offer a more rounded view of Tudor life.

Education Officer Ben Pugh said: "A history museum's job is to encourage people to interact with history. We have found on visits that students learn the most from our trained historical interpreters. By offering this free service we are hoping to make independent study a more interactive experience and by making museums seem relevant, convert today's school children into the museum visitors of tomorrow. A historical interpreters enjoy sharing their knowledge and their passion for history means they are really excited about this project."
