Eddie Stobart documentary to be broadcast on Five

An observational documentary celebrating the achievements of the Eddie Stobart transport and logistics business will be broadcast on Five later this week. The six-part series, named Eddie Stobart: Trucks & Trailers, will be aired weekly - starting with the first hour-long episode on Friday 24 September at 8pm.
Superbrand Eddie Stobart is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and forms the road haulage element of Stobart Group. The UK’s best-known logistics brand employs over 5,500 people at more than 40 sites and has a fleet approaching 2,000 trucks.
The documentary, filmed and produced by Princess Productions, gives an exclusive insight into the company and the people that have made it such a success. It focuses on Stobart Group’s dedicated employees such as drivers, route planners, warehousing staff and directors who work tirelessly to ensure customers receive the best possible service.
Filming has taken place over ten weeks during the summer and features around 30 characters from Eddie Stobart depots such as Appleton, Carlisle, Chelford, Crick, Corby, Newark and Warrington.
Since its inception, the Eddie Stobart brand has built its reputation through a commitment to courteous drivers, its high quality fleet and exceptional levels of customer support. It has evolved in recent years to provide a significant chilled warehousing and transport service and is now distributing sustainable biomass products to the energy industry.
The company is also well known for its Members Club. The famous Eddie Stobart ‘spotters’ have demonstrated a strong allegiance to the company’s brand and faithfully followed the iconic liveried vehicles across the length and breadth of the country.
However, the Group has been at the forefront of technical developments enabling it to deliver sustainable solutions to many major supermarket chains and retailers. Its strive to reduce empty running and pioneering of low-carbon transport solutions has led to top fleet utilisation figures.
The documentary helps to celebrate the work of the Group and its staff by giving viewers an insight into the daily challenges that they face in getting deliveries to destinations on time. It explains the structure and high levels of route planning required to ensure successful distribution and the Stobart philosophy of going that extra mile for customers which has led to its continued growth and success.
Andrew Tinkler, Chief Executive of Stobart Group, said: “The series will really show the public how hard our staff work and the challenges they face on a daily basis to make deliveries in a safe and efficient manner. The Eddie Stobart business has been built upon customer care and the series will highlight the effort, high degree of planning and organisation involved in the business. In this 40th year of Eddie Stobart, the documentary will show how things have progressed and what the modern world of road haulage and multimodal logistics is all about.”
