Fitness First trials new ViPR craze

The world’s largest health club group, Fitness First is now trialling ViPR, the newest fitness equipment to hit the UK, which claims to burn calories and build muscle, giving a full body workout in just 30 minutes.
The innovative new product looks to the future of free weight training by combining the benefits of equipment such as the kettle bell, medicine ball and dumbbell among others, to focus on whole body workouts.
Derek Crawford, national fitness manager for Fitness First UK, said: “The distinctive design of the ViPR targets a variety of muscle groups, providing an effective mix of strength and movement training. We are always looking at new techniques to vary member’s workouts and expect ViPR to be very popular with members and personal trainers using them with clients.”
The ViPR, which stands for vitality, performance and re-conditioning, is made of rubber and comes in a range of weights up to 20kg. The product originates from the ideas of Whole Body Integration (WBI) which focuses on the importance of training the body as a whole rather than targeting certain areas. A concept that has proven very popular with kettle bells in recent years.
Its unique design allows for flexibility and variety in a workout, as it can be flipped, carried, thrown and stepped on, providing up to 9,000 different exercises, making every workout new and challenging. Created by Olympic athlete trainer Michael Dalcourt, the ViPR is extremely safe and easy to use, making it quick for beginners and fitness fanatics to benefit from its multi-tool potential.
“We are trialling ViPRs with an opportunity to purchase and have put them in selected clubs to monitor the feedback through both members and personal trainers using them with clients, if successful we could consider a group rollout,” concluded Derek.
