Aalborg Beerwalk offers a taste of Denmark
Over the years, Aalborg has established itself as “a bit of a gem” for foodies and now it seems, it is fast becoming a hotspot for beer enthusiasts too. This spring, the city teamed up with six local pubs and created a brand new “Aalborg Beerwalk”.
The beer walk is a perfect start to a fun afternoon or evening in Aalborg. Once you’ve bought our beer-tour of the city, you will received a special tasting glass, vouchers for six samples of excellent beer and a guide in English to make sure you will get some well-poured, special beer in as many great pubs - and its quite likely you get to know a few of the friendly locals too!
One of the six pubs involved in the initiative is Sogaards Bryghus where giant steaming copper kettles and a heady aroma of hops welcome you on the doorstep. Sogaards Bryghus brews a fine selection of five to six different beers and you can follow the brewing process in the restaurant while you enjoy a great lunch or dinner.
Did you also know that…
Within the last ten years Denmark has undergone what can only be described as a beer revolution. Although Carlsberg still is the best known Danish beer abroad, beer enthusiasts all over the country have challenged probably the best beer in the world with their local brews!
It is therefore not only in Aalborg that you can get a good taste of the local brew. You can, on tour all around North Jutland, visit a vast range of good-quality local breweries. One particular part of North Jutland worth a visit is the area called “Thy”.
Thy is home to the scenic Thy National Park - Denmark’s 1st official national park inaugurated in 2008 – and here is also where you’ll find the well-esteemed Thisted Bryggeri as well as the lovely local brewery “Restaurant Bryggen”. The latter is a small micro-brewery and restaurant with superb views of the fjord on the border of North Jutland called “Limfjorden”.
Other micro-breweries in North Jutland also worth a visit are located in or around the towns of Aabybro, Løkken, Norresundby, Nibe, Gjol and Skagen.
