Coronation Street now available on Google Street View
You might never be lucky enough to visit it in person, but now that Coronation Street is on the virtual map its millions of fans can explore it as if they were the characters in the programme.
ITV and Google today offered fans of the nation’s favourite soap the chance to explore Britain’s most famous fictional street as Coronation Street became available on Google Street View for the very first time today.
Earlier this year the soap's producers invited the Google Trike to drive down the famous cobbles so that fans could take in well-known landmarks such as the Rovers Return, Audrey’s hair salon and The Kabin.
The move was part of a wider campaign to remind viewers that there is an easier way to be in the know about all the drama and action from the Street. Fans will be able to access Google Street View directly from the re-launched ITV.com/Corrie – a dedicated fan space for the millions of Corrie fans who want to get up close and personal with the show which celebrates its 50th Anniversary next year.

Sian Jones, Brand Manager, Platforms and Online, ITV, said:
“We know that it's important to Corrie fans to be in the know about their favorite soap and we’re really proud to be the first UK soap to open their doors to the Google Street View cameras. Allowing fans to explore the iconic Coronation Street cobbles gets them closer to the action and the drama that goes on in the nation’s favourite soap.”
Ed Parsons, Google's Geospatial Technologist said:
"We're so excited to have the first ever TV soap available in Street View. Now anyone can take a stroll over the cobbles and imagine themselves popping through the door of the Rovers for a swift pint."
