Contemporary self-catering breaks in Devon Amongst the many stunning newcomers to the Helpful Holidays portfolio of West Country self-catering properties for 2009 is Innisfree, an ultra-modern detached house sleeping fourteen in the South Devon sailing centre of Newton Ferrers, with sensational panoramic views over the River Yealm shared by almost every room and the large glass fronted balcony. Recently renovated, the stylish, contemporary interior is planned over four levels with lots of light and glass throughout. The master suite, with its sunken Jacuzzi bath, is reached via a glass ‘bridge’ walkway over the dining room; there’s also a 42-inch wall mounted plasma TV and wireless broadband. Outside the terrace and tiered lawns lead down to a sheltered barbecue area and six-person hot tub.

Another stunning five star property from Helpful Holidays is Duckpond Cottage, which sleeps twelve, near the village of Higher Ashton on Dartmoor. Recently refurnished with exceptional style and flair, it consists of a detached three-storey house linked on the ground floor with a two-storey converted barn across a pond from a thatched longhouse. Beside the house is a large outdoor heated pool (available 22 May – 18 September) and a Mediterranean-style terrace with stunning evening lighting and a hot tub for eight (available until 8pm all year); there’s also a sauna for three inside the house and WiFi internet access.

Stylish Barn Conversion in Dorset
Lynchett Chase Barn in Maiden Newton, seven miles north-west of Dorchester, has been stylishly converted to sleep eight guests. Oak double doors open to a huge open-plan kitchen/dining/living room with contemporary furnishing and polished stone floors, while upstairs the four bedrooms all have oak floors with rugs and original wooden beams, some low in places; the romantic master bedroom has a four-poster bed. Outside there’s an enclosed garden with electric gates to the front and terraced lawns at the back with a four person hot tub. The garage now serves as a games room.

Victorian House for Garden Lovers in South Devon
Helpful Holidays are offering the perfect place for garden lovers to spend a few days relaxing - a sizeable wing of the lovely Victorian house within the nationally acclaimed Lukesland gardens near Ivybridge, South Devon. Sleeping seven with high ceilings and much Victoriana, the accommodation is on two floors with fine views over the gardens from the three large bedrooms.

Holidaymakers can wander the peaceful 24 acre garden with its landscaped ponds and waterfalls, rare flowering shrubs and magnificent trees, which they share with the owners (gardens are open to the public two days per week mid-April to mid-June and mid-October to Mid-November only).

Big Choice of Holiday Homes in South Cornwall
Helpful Holidays new 2009 brochure features a big increase in properties in South Cornwall, particularly around the Falmouth and St Mawes region. Amongst the newcomers are two cottages in the riverside village of Feock, both sleeping six. Detached King Harry’s Cottage, a former ferryman’s home, is in a beautiful spot near the coastal nature walk and just above the Roseland Peninsula ferry, while recently renovated Cuttle Cottage is amongst a group of typically Cornish cottages overlooking Restronguet Creek, near Point Quay where children can swim and boats can be launched.
