Hungerhill School – Top of the league in style stakes Many students enjoy a kick-around in the playground at lunchtime however pupils at Hungerhill School in Doncaster can go one better – with a week-long trip to a USA soccer academy.

48 Year 9 and 10 students are preparing to head to the acclaimed IMG Academy in Tampa, Florida where they will undergo rigorous physical and academic training to get a taste of what life as an elite soccer star before facing American opposition on the pitch.

The trip has been organised by Hungerhill School’s PE department and determined to look the part off the pitch, students will be wearing tracksuits made especially for the tour, funded by a £2,500 donation from Doncaster-based Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire.

Matt Hickin, PE teacher from Hungerhill School, said: “The chance to experience life as an elite American soccer star is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the students lucky enough to be spending time at this top-notch training facility in the States are counting down the days till they depart!

“Off the pitch, the students will certainly make an impression and we’re hoping we can do just that on the pitch too!”

Lawrence McGeehan, sales director for Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire, adds: “We’re committed in supporting the communities in which we build so when Hungerhill School told us about the trip, we were determined to help. We hope they have a fantastic time and look forward to hearing their tales of how they comfortably beat the Americans!”

Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire is currently creating new communities in Dronfield, Barnsley, Harworth, Laughton, Worksop, Gainsborough and Woodlaithes Village near Rotherham and Doncaster including Auckley, Armthorpe and Kirk Sandall.
