Landowner cuts the ribbon at Dorset development
James Weld of the Lulworth Estate and Jim Knight, MP for South Dorset, officially opened Barratt Homes’ popular Purbeck Gate development in Wool, Dorset. The development has been built on land owned by the Weld family and James Weld played a prominent role in enabling much needed homes to be built on the site in the tranquil village of Wool, just five miles from the picturesque Lulworth Cove.
James Weld commented: “We are pleased that this development will home local people, those moving to the village to work nearby or individuals working here already but not yet living here. The development has been designed to be in keeping with a rural community, and offer a good proportion of affordable homes for the area.”
Purbeck Gate offers a selection of two, three, four or five bedroom homes. Many residents have already moved in and these include army personnel and their families from the nearby Bovington Army Camp and employees from nearby attraction Monkey World.
Part of the development have been allocated as affordable housing units dedicated to those in the community who could not afford to purchase or live in their own home without assistance, a programme supported by MP Jim Knight.
Catherine Ferguson, sales director at Barratt Homes commented: “Purbeck Gate has proved popular, with many buyers coming from the local area and from the rest of Dorset. We are delighted Jim Knight and James Weld attended this ceremony to officially open the development.
“Barratt Homes always designs to promote a healthy community mix, integrating affordable homes with private properties, we pay attention to the look and feel of any development and how it will blend well within the location. Purbeck Gate is very attractive with beautiful surroundings.”
