Thomas scoops regional prize in daffodil competition
Six year old Thomas Horman from Fynamore Primary School in Calne has beaten off stiff competition from across Wessex to be selected as the regional winner in Persimmon Homes’ inaugural Daffodil Pictures and Poems competition.Pupils from across the UK took part in the competition in which they were invited to submit pictures and poems of the spring flower.
Thomas’ picture will now be immortalised alongside those of other regional winners in order to create Persimmon’s 2008 calendar, which will be distributed nationwide. Thomas also received book vouchers worth £500 for his school and enjoyed a family day out at Longleat Safari Park.
Thomas’ winning picture was selected by Steve Roche, managing director for Persimmon Homes’ Wessex region who comments: “We were absolutely delighted with the talent displayed in the many entries we received for the competition and selecting the regional winner was no easy task. Thomas’ entry was eventually chosen as it displayed genuine creative fair and we are very much looking forward to seeing it reproduced in the official calendar.
“The Daffodil Pictures and Poems competition is an excellent way to mark our ongoing partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care, which has been our nominated charity for the past two years. By creating the calendar, we hope to raise awareness of the charity and its emblem, the daffodil, while also working closely within the communities we build.
