Snap-on introduces guide to wheel alignment Snap-on Equipment has introduced a comprehensive guide to wheel alignment, which aims to simplify what is undoubtedly a highly complex subject. The guide provides detailed information and illustrations on a number of topics, ranging from pre-alignment checks, types of aligner and workshop bay requirements, through to alignment terminology, such as ‘toe-in’ and ‘toe-out’ and adjustment methods.

Drivers of today’s vehicles enjoy high levels of refinement, notably ride, road holding and cornering stability, resulting from increasingly sophisticated steering and suspension systems. In order to maintain these qualities, technicians are faced with the challenge of ensuring chassis adjustments are in accordance to a manufacturer’s factory settings. Fortunately, the latest wheel alignment technology makes this process simple and straightforward, with aligners such as the John Bean V3D Lite featuring easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions.

Chris Behan, General Manager, Snap-on Equipment, comments: “There’s no doubt that more sophisticated chassis technology combined with the growing damage risk from our pothole ridden roads has made the importance of correct wheel alignment even more significant. Wheel alignment is a complex subject and I hope our new guide simplifies some of the complexity.”
