New Buckstone Luton van joins the Citroen ready to run range

20th April 2006 Print
Citroen Ready to Run Luton van Citroen’s unique and expanding Ready to Run range of competitively priced and award winning ready-bodied vehicles now includes an exceptionally well-specified Relay-based Luton van. Built by Buckstone Motor Bodies Ltd, the Relay Ready to Run Luton van features an exceptional range of standard equipment, including an audible/visual rear parking sensor system, Eurodoor, colour impregnated, wide slat shutter, anodised aluminium exterior framework, full width rear step/under-run bumper and five rows of tie rails.

Robert Handyside, Citroen’s commercial vehicle operations manager, explains, "Priced from just £15,295 + VAT + delivery the new Relay Luton van bodied Ready to Run package is built to the highest standards, with a wide range of productivity boosting features. No other vehicle manufacturer’s ready-bodied range can come close to matching either the specification or sheer value-for-money of Citroen’s Relay Ready to Run Luton van package."

To ensure that the new Ready to Run Luton van specification meets the high-cube transport requirements of the majority of operators, Citroen and North West based Buckstone Motor Bodies, one of the UK’s leading specialists in this sector, have worked closely to develop the optimum body specification.

Thus the Ready to Run Luton van, which can be mounted on either a 2.2HDi or 2.8HDi powered Relay 1800 3.5tonne gvw, extra long wheelbase chassis, has a 4020mm main body floor length, with a further 1200mm in the Luton head. The headroom in the main load area is a generous 2230mm and the maximum body width, between tie rails, is 1980mm. These generous dimensions provide 19.75cu.m load capacity and a 960kg payload.

Strength is a key requirement for quality Luton vans and therefore premium body construction techniques are used in the main body structure. The main aluminium body framing is built from anodised aluminium, as standard, rather than the easily discoloured, mill-finish alloy.

The body panelling is high quality and of robust construction, with 11mm white gloss finished heavy duty grp panels. The body underframe is designed for maximum strength and minimum weight, and is constructed using galvanised steel box section longitudinals with aluminium cross bearers instead of steel which is normally used. Aluminium top hat sections, with a one piece translucent fibreglass roof sheet, make up the roof structure. To ensure the long-term waterproofing integrity of the roof, Buckstone Motor Bodies uses its own external perimeter fastening system.

Other premium build quality features include the use of a premium duty, 18mm thick phenolic faced, non-slip coated flooring and a heavy duty anodised aluminium rear frame. The rear shutter is a premium specification Eurodoor wide slat, colour-impregnated unit. This lightweight shutter provides the benefits of ease of use, easy cleaning and maximum available area at the rear for sign writing.

Additional Ready to Run Luton standard equipment – which sets this body apart from its competitors and makes the difference between an ordinary van and one able to deliver maximum productivity include:-

Rear parking sensors, with audible warning and visual warning for the driver
Aluminium rear frame, designed to take, without modification, an optional tail lift
Premium specification Eurodoor, lightweight, wide slat colour impregnated shutter
Heavy duty rubber buffers, to protect the rear frame
Full width rear step, with non slip surface and large, twin rear grab handles
Full width under run bumper
Five rows of timber tie rails, on body sides and front bulkhead
Heavy duty timber kick strip, at floor level
Twin interior body roof lights
Full legal external side and rear LED marker lights

To complement its very high standard specification there are a number of extras available for the Ready to Run Luton van body. Amongst other options operators can specify a Del or Ratcliff 500kg tail lift, a moulded aerodynamic front capping for the Luton head, heavy duty external body side rub rails, and full width, extended side height rear buffers.

The Relay 1800 extra long wheelbase chassis cab is available with a choice of fuel-efficient 104hp 2.2HDi or 127hp 2.8HDi engines. Both models are well equipped with power steering, electric windows, remote central locking for the cab doors, heated, electrically adjustable mirrors, truck-type, multi-adjustable Isri drivers seat, dual passenger seat, drop-down desk top, pop-up map/paperwork holder and plenty of in cab storage.

Both Citroen Relay chassis and Buckstone Luton body have two year, unlimited mileage/ three year/100,000mile flexible warranty packages.
