It’s good to talk, now it’s even better for Skipton’s customers
It’s refreshing to know that in these times of rising prices for consumers, one organisation is cutting costs for its customers.
Skipton Building Society is now offering cheaper-rate 0345 contact numbers meaning customers will save on their phone bills.
The move comes as a clear statement of intent by Skipton to help customers, many of whom are struggling in harsh economic times and would welcome all the help they can get on their outgoings.
Claire Davey, Head of Skipton Direct, which is the organisation’s first contact with customers, said: “Here at Skipton, we believe all responsible organisations should be looking closely at ways of helping their customers financially. We identified that by using 0345 numbers we would be further meeting our customers’ needs by lowering the cost of contact.
“The move to 0345 numbers means that customers can call our numbers from their free minutes on their mobile. We believe the move to 0345 numbers is currently quite a unique move in our sector.”
Skipton previously offered only 0845 numbers, but now when a customer calls a 0345 number from a landline or a mobile, the call cost is exactly the same. Calling a 0345 number will cost exactly the same as a call to a standard landline number starting with 01 and 02.
If you have “free” minutes as part of your phone deal then calls to 0345 numbers will come out of that and there will be no additional charges on your bill.
0345 numbers are specially allocated to businesses or industries which need to specifically request one. At present, local councils, Government run organisations, public services, charities and other non-profit organisations are using them. However, consumers can expect 0345 numbers to start being used more and more.
Claire added: “It’s good to know that Skipton is at the forefront of change in its sector and we will continue to identify sensible working practices from which our customers can benefit.”
0345 is not an 'area code' and numbers beginning with '03' are not linked to any specific location. Calls to an 0345 number are routed to wherever the number's owner chooses, which can be anywhere in the country or even overseas.
