World’s fastest Mini and Postman Pat’s van to star at Flame and Thunder
Santa Pod’s Flame and Thunder event on the 27th October is always a real crowd pleaser, but this year, two extra special cars will help to turn up the heat on the track – as well as guaranteeing to raise a smile amongst kids of all ages!
Stuart Mead’s Mini has already achieved infamy in the national press and online thanks to its giant-killing 700 horsepower motor and sub-2-second 0-60 time. Faster than even a Bugatti Veyron, it’s certainly progressed somewhat since the father-of-two first bought it for £500 some 15 years ago.
Now, some £95,000 later, it’s more than capable of hitting 180mph and will easily launch to a sub-10 second quarter mile, which eclipses all but the quickest purpose-built drag cars. Although it is still street legal, the rear ‘chute and wide tyres mean that it’s definitely more of a racecar – and one not to miss!
Another ‘World’s Fastest’ is the previously coin-operated Postman Pat van that now packs a considerably greater punch than it did as a supermarket distraction for stroppy kids. Now boasting a powerful petrol engine and the ability to hit speeds of over 100 kph, whilst wheelying its way down the strip, it’s ‘Express Delivery’ taken to the next level.
These cars are just two stars in a galaxy of insane automotive entertainment at Flame and Thunder. For details of the full line-up which includes Monster Trucks, Jet-cars and Top-Fuel Dragsters, visit santapod.com.
